Patients in the area of Columbus, OH who are interested in enhancing their smile, especially if misalignment is a concern, are encouraged to take the time to look at the various options they have available. Most dental practices will encourage patients to consider braces. However, many patients, including adults and teenagers, hate the idea of hiding their smile behind metal brackets and wires. Instead, our team encourages patients to think about the advantages of using Invisalign as an alternative. Invisalign allows for the same results, but without the unsightly orthodontia.
What is Invisalign?
Dr. Sharon E. Schindler of Schindler Dentistry encourages patients who have mild to moderate malocclusion to consider the advantages of using Invisalign. Invisalign is a clear aligner tray system that slowly moves teeth into better positioning within the dental arch to improve the alignment of the bite and the dental arch. Invisalign is easy to use, simple to care for, and can provide patients with a brand-new smile in record time!
How does it work?
Patients first take the time to talk with their dentist to determine if they are candidates for this treatment. Then, patients will have a series of impressions made of their current smile, which is translated into a digital image and used by the Invisalign laboratory to create a series of trays. The number of trays in one’s system will vary depending on the amount of movement that needs to occur. Patients wear the trays in order, two weeks at a time, until they reach the final tray—and obtain their final results! For most of our patients, obtaining a new smile can happen within 12 months!
